Indian-origin Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi has reintroduced the HIRE Act, proposing to double H-1B visas to 130,000 and expand STEM education funding to bolster US competitiveness. The development comes just days after former Congressman Dave Brat and Indian-American diplomat Mahvash Siddiqui alleged large-scale fraud in the H-1B visa programme, particularly at the Chennai consulate.
